Brooklyn, NY – May 14, 2024 – BARRO Brooklyn: Latin Americans in Clay, an inaugural group exhibition, proudly presents the exceptional works of artists Alejandra Rojas, Fernanda Uribe, and Gonzalo Miñano. This exhibition will be part of the Brooklyn Ceramic Arts Tour 2024, set to commence on May 18, 2024.
Curated and produced by Alejandra Rojas and Marinés Soria, the exhibition promises to be a vibrant celebration of Latin American culture, conveyed through the versatile medium of clay. Rojas, a Peruvian immigrant and architect, channels her passion for design into sculptural clay creations. Uribe, a Brooklyn-based artist, blends her Mexican-Cuban identity with ancient inspirations in her sculptures and paintings. Miñano, a Peruvian visual artist based in New York, explores themes of gender identity, religion, death, and pleasure in his evocative pieces.
"Barro" not only narrates the diverse expressions of Latin American culture through the medium of clay but also highlights its historical contribution to the contemporary art scene. BARRO Brooklyn offers a distinctive chance to delve into the realm of Latin American ceramic artists residing, working, and blending within Brooklyn's lively, multicultural setting. Additionally, on May 18 at 2:00 p.m., as part of the opening, a Panel Discussion with the artists will be hosted by Rockella Studios and moderated by Veranda Aguirre, Masters in Museums, and Digital Culture.
